A diode or, in other words, a dipole electric or rectifier, is an electronic piece with two ends. The diode crosses the electrical current in one direction (in this case, the ideal diode’s resistance is zero) , and in the opposite direction, it shows a very high (infinite) resistance in front of the flow. The diode is made of a coupling of two cathode and anode semiconductors.
The most important application of the diode is the flow in one direction and the prevention of flow in the opposite direction (rectification). This diode feature is used to convert alternating current to direct current.
